EMS on AIR

In this episode, Dr. Faust provides us an update on the most recent national, state and local COVID stats, as well as an overview of current trends we’re seeing out there. Then, Dr. McGraw addresses recent concerns from the EMS community about loosening up our airway management restrictions, found in our protocols during the pandemic.  He also touches on why we saw a near doubling of priority 4 patients in February through May of 2020 compared to 2019 and it isn’t due to the airway procedures listed in our Emergency Protocols.  We finish with a discussion about the recommendations for hospitals in the new Executive Orders to allow one visitor per patient in hospitals.  Remember, these are just guidelines and each hospital gets to make their rules in the best interest of their patients.  So, please contact your EMS Coordinator to identify the patient visitor rules at your local hospitals.
